Josef Frank Model 775 Daybed for Svenskt Tenn
Designed by Josef Frank in 1938, the Model 775 daybed is a wonderful example of his ability to combine comfort, functionality, and visual warmth. Created during a period when rest and relaxation became an increasingly important part of modern interior design, the daybed remains one of Frank's most inviting and versatile furniture designs.
This example was manufactured by O.H. Sjögren in Tranås, Sweden, in 2018 for Svenskt Tenn. It is upholstered in the iconic Vägen Ochra Red textile, a design by Margit Thorén introduced in 1949. The lively pattern brings color and character to the piece while complementing the soft, welcoming shape of the daybed.
The design features a fully upholstered frame with a loose seat cushion and matching pillow, creating a comfortable place for lounging, reading, or relaxing. Globe-shaped stained beech legs lift the piece from the floor and add a subtle sculptural detail that is characteristic of Josef Frank's furniture.
The daybed measures approximately 78.7 inches long, 35.4 inches wide, and 24.8 inches high, with a seat height of approximately 15.7 inches.
Condition is excellent. The daybed shows only negligible signs of wear and presents beautifully overall.
What we like most about the Model 775 is its versatility. It functions equally well as a sofa, daybed, or statement piece, while the colorful Svenskt Tenn textile gives it the distinctive personality that makes Josef Frank's designs so enduring.
As with all vintage and collectible pieces, signs of use are part of the story. Colors can look slightly different depending on the light. If you'd like more photos or details, just let me know.
