Scandinavian Teak and Sheepskin Easy Chairs, Pair, 1950s
These chairs have the warm, organic character that defines Scandinavian seating from the period. The sculpted teak frames feature gently curved armrests, tapered legs, and clean lines that keep the overall design light and elegant.
The combination of teak and sheepskin works particularly well. The warm wood provides structure and contrast, while the soft sheepskin upholstery adds texture, comfort, and a more inviting feel. The chairs have been reupholstered at a later date, giving them a fresh appearance while preserving their mid-century character.
The proportions are comfortable and relaxed, making them equally suitable as lounge chairs, reading chairs, or part of a larger seating arrangement.
Height is approximately 35.4 inches, with a seat height of about 16.5 inches. Width and depth were not specified but are consistent with typical Scandinavian lounge chairs from the period.
Condition is good vintage. The teak frames show light wear and minor marks consistent with age and use. The sheepskin upholstery is later and remains in very good condition.
What we like about them is the balance between the sculptural teak frames and the softness of the sheepskin. They feel comfortable and inviting while still maintaining the clean, timeless look associated with Scandinavian modern design.
As with all vintage pieces, signs of use are part of the story. Colors can look slightly different depending on the light. If you'd like more photos or details, just let me know.
