Model 2192 Corrugated Cabinet by Josef Frank for Svenskt Tenn

The Model 2192 cabinet, often referred to as the "Corrugated Cabinet," is one of Josef Frank's most distinctive storage designs for Svenskt Tenn. Designed in 1954, it showcases Frank's ability to create furniture that is both functional and visually engaging through subtle details rather than excessive ornamentation.

The cabinet is characterized by its ribbed front panels, which create a beautiful play of light and shadow across the surface. Finished in black lacquer, the exterior has a strong architectural presence while maintaining the warmth and elegance associated with Frank's work.

Resting on a solid walnut base, the cabinet opens to reveal a mahogany-veneered interior fitted with shelves, providing practical storage for a variety of uses. Brass fittings and the distinctive acorn-shaped hinges add refined details that complement the overall design.

This example represents the smaller version of the Model 2192 cabinet and retains its original character. Keys are included.

The cabinet measures approximately 31.5 inches wide, 15.7 inches deep, and 49.2 inches high.

Condition is good vintage. The black lacquered exterior shows minor wear and marks consistent with age and use. The interior presents well, and overall the cabinet retains a very good appearance.

What we like most about this piece is the subtle texture of the corrugated front. It transforms a simple storage cabinet into something sculptural, while remaining practical and easy to incorporate into both modern and traditional interiors.
