A rare matching set comprising the GE233 armchair and GE233/3 three-seat sofa, designed by Hans J. Wegner for Getama in Denmark in 1952. This early Wegner collaboration with Getama represents a refined example of Danish modern design, first presented at the Furniture Manufacturers Association exhibition in Fredericia in 1953.

Both pieces feature solid beech frames with soft, organic curves and precise joinery, reflecting Wegner’s early exploration of comfort-driven modernism. The design is defined by its clean silhouette and subtle sculptural quality, balancing simplicity with a strong sense of craftsmanship.

The armchair includes an adjustable backrest, allowing for a more relaxed seating position, while maintaining the same visual language as the sofa. The three-seat sofa carries the same proportions and detailing, creating a cohesive and well-balanced set suitable for both residential and interior design settings.

Both pieces have been reupholstered in a grey fabric, giving the set a unified appearance while preserving the integrity of Wegner’s original design language.

The armchair measures approximately 29.5 inches in height with a seat height of approximately 15.7 inches. The sofa measures approximately 70.9 inches in length, with similar height and seat proportions.

Condition is good vintage. The beech frames show wear consistent with age and use. The set retains a strong and cohesive visual presence.

What we like most about this set is its balance of early Wegner softness and structural clarity. It feels understated yet highly refined, making it easy to integrate into a wide range of interiors.

As with all vintage pieces, signs of use are part of the story. Colors can look slightly different depending on the light. If you'd like more details, just let me know.
