Patricia Urquiola Tufty-Time Modular Sofa with Ottoman for B&B Italia

Designed by Patricia Urquiola for B&B Italia in 2005, the Tufty-Time modular sofa is one of the defining icons of contemporary Italian design, reinterpreting the classic Chesterfield and capitonné tradition through a more relaxed and modular language. The design explores comfort, flexibility, and everyday living, combining a playful aesthetic with strong architectural presence.

The configuration of modular seating elements with the ottoman, allowing for multiple arrangements depending on the space. Upholstered in a rich charcoal-grey fabric with a contrasting ivory ottoman, the composition emphasizes texture and proportion. The deep seating and generously padded quilted construction create a soft, enveloping comfort, while the modular system allows each element to function individually or as a complete set.

Each module measures approximately 41.3 × 41.3 inches, with a height of approximately 26 inches and a seat height of approximately 15 inches. The modular layout allows for flexible configurations depending on interior needs.

The set is in good condition with light signs of use consistent with age and careful ownership. The upholstery presents well overall with only minor traces visible upon close inspection. The foam remains supportive and comfortable, and the structure retains its original shape.

What we like about this design is its balance between softness and structure. It feels both architectural and relaxed, making it equally suitable for residential interiors and more contemporary design spaces.
