Josef Frank Model 2112 Mahogany Bookcase for Svenskt Tenn
A model 2112 bookcase designed by Josef Frank for Svenskt Tenn in Sweden.
Designed in 1950, the Model 2112 is a refined storage piece that reflects Josef Frank's ability to combine practicality with timeless design. Built as a sectional unit, the model was conceived to offer flexibility while maintaining the warmth and elegance that characterize Frank's furniture.
This example is crafted in mahogany, showcasing the rich color and beautiful grain that have made the material a favorite in Scandinavian cabinetmaking. The bookcase is composed of two sections: a lower cabinet with enclosed storage and an upper vitrine with a glazed door, creating a balanced combination of display and concealed storage.
Adjustable shelving throughout allows the interior to be adapted for books, decorative objects, tableware, or collectibles. Brass hardware provides a subtle contrast to the mahogany and adds a refined finishing detail that complements the overall design.
The bookcase measures approximately 39.4 inches wide and 87 inches high. The lower section is approximately 17.7 inches deep, while the upper section is approximately 9.8 inches deep.
Condition is excellent. The piece presents as new, and keys are included.
What we like most about the Model 2112 is its versatility. The combination of enclosed storage, display space, and beautifully crafted mahogany makes it equally suitable for a living room, dining room, office, or library.
As with all vintage and collectible pieces, signs of use are part of the story. Colors can look slightly different depending on the light. If you'd like more photos or details, just let me know.
