An iconic Lounge Chair and Ottoman, models 670 and 671, designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1956 for Herman Miller in the United States. Widely regarded as one of the greatest furniture designs of the twentieth century, the Eames Lounge Chair redefined luxury seating by combining exceptional comfort with refined craftsmanship. It remains a centerpiece of modern design and is included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Designed to evoke "the warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseman's mitt," the chair combines molded plywood shells with luxurious leather upholstery to create an inviting and timeless silhouette. This authentic Herman Miller example features beautifully figured rosewood veneer shells paired with supple black leather cushions, creating the classic combination most sought after by collectors. The chair and matching ottoman rest on polished cast aluminum bases, providing strength while maintaining the light, elegant appearance that has made the design famous worldwide. Both pieces retain their original Herman Miller labels, confirming authentic production.

The lounge chair measures approximately 32.7 inches wide, 32.7 inches deep, and 31.5 inches high, with a seat height of approximately 15 inches. The matching ottoman measures approximately 25.6 inches wide, 19.7 inches deep, and 16.5 inches high.

The set is in good vintage condition with light wear consistent with age and careful use. Minor veneer losses are present along a few edges, accompanied by expected signs of use to the leather and aluminum base. These cosmetic imperfections are typical of well-preserved vintage examples and do not detract from the overall presentation. The chair remains structurally sound, comfortable, and ready for everyday enjoyment.

What we like most about the Eames Lounge Chair is its remarkable ability to combine luxurious comfort with timeless design. More than sixty years after its introduction, it continues to be one of the most recognizable and desirable pieces of modern furniture ever created.

As with all vintage pieces, signs of use are part of the story. Colors can look slightly different depending on the light. If you'd like more photos or details, just let me know.
