Amura Lapis Modular Sofa by Emanuel Gargano & Anton Cristell, Italy

Designed by Emanuel Gargano and Anton Cristell for Amura in 2023, the Lapis modular sofa is a contemporary sculptural seating system inspired by organic forms and the irregular geometry of ancient Roman cobblestone streets. The design explores softness and fluidity, creating a landscape-like seating experience intended to feel both natural and architectural at the same time.

The set is composed of two modular elements upholstered in navy velvet, designed to be arranged freely depending on the space. Its frameless construction combined with memory foam padding allows the modules to maintain their soft, continuous shape while offering deep and comfortable seating. The result is a visually light yet generously proportioned design that emphasizes comfort through form rather than structure.

The larger module measures approximately 90.6 × 41.3 inches, while the second module measures approximately 74.8 × 51.2 inches. The overall combined length is approximately 132.3 inches, with a height of approximately 25.6 inches and a seat height of approximately 15 inches.

The set is in very good condition with light signs of careful use consistent with age. The upholstery remains clean and well preserved, and the foam retains its shape throughout. Overall the piece presents very well, with only minimal traces of handling visible upon close inspection.

What we like about this design is its sculptural quality and flexibility. It feels less like a traditional sofa and more like a landscape of soft forms that can be arranged and reinterpreted depending on the space.
