A pair of Wire Cone chairs designed by Verner Panton for Fritz Hansen in Denmark. Originally introduced in 1958–59, this pair was produced in 1990.

The Wire Cone Chair is one of Panton's earliest and most recognizable designs. Developed from the original Cone Chair, it replaces the upholstered shell with an open wire construction, creating a lighter and more transparent appearance while maintaining the distinctive geometric form. The result is a chair that feels both sculptural and surprisingly airy.

Each chair features a chromed steel wire frame formed into Panton's iconic cone-shaped silhouette. The open structure gives the design a strong architectural presence without feeling visually heavy. Loose upholstered cushions in green fabric provide comfort and create a striking contrast against the polished chrome frame.

The chairs swivel on a circular steel base, allowing them to function equally well as lounge seating or statement accent chairs. Their combination of geometric form and industrial materials reflects Panton's pioneering approach to modern furniture design.

Width is approximately 30 inches, depth 26 inches, height 34 inches, and seat height approximately 15.7 inches.

Condition is good vintage. The chairs show minor wear consistent with age and use. The chrome frames present well, and the green upholstery shows normal signs of use. The overall impression is very good.

What we like about them is the balance between sculpture and function. Even decades after their introduction, the Wire Cone Chair still feels remarkably modern and remains one of Verner Panton's most distinctive creations.

As with all vintage pieces, signs of use are part of the story. Colors can look slightly different depending on the light. If you'd like more photos or details, just let me know.
