Maralunga Sofa by Vico Magistretti for Cassina

This is one of those sofas that has become iconic for a reason. Designed by Vico Magistretti for Cassina in 1973, the Maralunga combines a soft and inviting shape with one of the most innovative sofa designs of its time.

What makes it special is the adjustable backrest system. The back cushions can be folded upward for additional head support or lowered for a more relaxed lounging position. The mechanism is integrated directly into the upholstery, keeping the overall look clean and understated.

This example is upholstered in a blue striped fabric and features loose seat cushions. The low profile, rounded lines, and generous proportions give the sofa a comfortable and welcoming feel without appearing heavy.

Length is approximately 96.5 inches, depth around 33.5 inches, height about 28 inches, and seat height approximately 14.6 inches.

Condition is very good vintage. The upholstery shows minimal wear consistent with age and use, the adjustable backrest mechanism works as intended.

What we like most about the Maralunga is how adaptable it feels. It can be supportive and upright or relaxed and lounge-like, all while maintaining the same timeless character.
