The GE-240, better known as the "Cigarren" or "Cigar" chair, is one of Hans J. Wegner's most celebrated lounge chair designs. Introduced in 1955 for Getama, it combines exceptional comfort with the refined craftsmanship that defines Danish modern furniture.

The chair features a solid oak frame with Wegner's distinctive sculpted armrests, whose rounded, tapered shape gave the model its famous nickname. The elegant frame showcases beautifully executed joinery and clean lines, while the slightly reclined backrest creates a relaxed and inviting seating position.

This example includes the matching ottoman, allowing for even greater comfort and making the set ideal for extended lounging. The loose cushions feature spring-core construction for excellent support and are upholstered in a green textile that complements the warmth of the oak frame. The upholstery is a later replacement and not original to the piece.

The chair measures approximately 26.8 inches wide, 29.5 inches deep, and 30.3 inches high. Seat height is approximately 15 inches, and armrest height is approximately 21.7 inches.

Condition is good vintage. The oak frame shows normal wear consistent with age and use, while the upholstery presents with signs of use expected from a vintage piece. The chair and ottoman are stamped "Getama Gedsted Denmark Design Hans J. Wegner."

What we like most about the GE-240 is the balance between comfort and craftsmanship. The sculptural armrests, generous proportions, and matching ottoman make it one of Wegner's most comfortable and enduring designs.

As with all vintage pieces, signs of use are part of the story. Colors can look slightly different depending on the light. If you'd like more details, just let me know.
