Eames EA119 High Back Executive Chair for Vitra

EA119 high back executive chair from the Aluminum Group collection, designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Vitra.

This model is the high-back version of the Aluminum Group series, originally developed for office and executive use. The design combines a lightweight aluminum frame with a suspended seat and back, creating a chair that feels both supportive and visually light.

Rather than relying on thick cushions, the upholstery is stretched within the frame, allowing it to adapt naturally to the sitter while maintaining the clean lines that define the design.

The chair features a five-star aluminum base with castors, adjustable seat height, and a reclining mechanism, making it well suited for office, desk, or conference use.

Seat height is adjustable from approximately 16.5 to 20.5 inches. Width is approximately 22.8 inches, depth 22.8–28.3 inches, and overall height 39.8–45.3 inches.

Condition is good vintage. The chair shows normal signs of wear consistent with age and use. The adjustment and tilt mechanisms function properly, and the chair presents well overall.

What we like about it is the combination of comfort, functionality, and timeless design. It remains one of the most recognizable office chair designs of the twentieth century while still feeling relevant in modern interiors.
